The 20’s in fashion are marked as a period of major changes. The “revolution” of women was amazing. Their mentality changed a lot and that was reflected in women’s behavior and look. Women cut their tresses. That was a sign of “rebellion” in the good sense, using as haircut an invention of a certain Antoine- the bob. This is a definition of this haircut: “A bob cut or bob is a short haircut for women (and occasionally men) in which the hair is typically cut straight around the head at about jaw-level, often with a fringe at the front” (Wikipedia).
A next step was to renounce at long dresses and corsets as in Victorian and Edwardian age. The clothes became comfortable, short with new forms. These outfits are in the Art Deco style, a technique used not only in fashion but also in art, architecture, furniture, movies. The design of clothes is different; geometrical; luxurious. For the head appeared pretty cloche hats ornamented with lace, beads, and ribbons or all kind of accessories.
These “new” ladies received the name of flappers. Imagine beautiful girls dancing Charleston in their sparkling clothes, looking at you with their sleepy big eyes and whispering your name with their red lips…
This is my version of 20’s fashion in (almost) actual clothes.
I am wearing in these photos a Margittes dress; shoes Moda Prosper; vintage gloves from my grandmother; white hat, black roses and pearls all no name.
I am wearing in these photos a vintage negligee from my mother.
